OBJECTIVES:
1. To learn about and practice transport vocabulary
2. To use English to communicate
PROCEDURE:
1. Run through eight different methods of transport by using A4 size cards.
2. Then play the "Do you have?" game.
3. Split the class into six or eight groups. Eight is probably better as they are learning eight methods of transport.
4. Assign each group a different word, e.g. helicopter. This is the card that the group wants to collect.
5. I'll give each child a copy of the mini picture cards. I drew mine by hand and photocopied them before I went to school.
6. Each student goes around asking, "Do you have a helicopter, car, etc?"
5. If yes - "Yes, here you are." and hands over the card.
6. If already given to someone else, "No, I'm sorry." and walks away.
7. The group that is the first to collect all their cards sits down. For example, when the "car" group collects all the "car" cards they sit down
NOTES:
A Variation of the “Do You Have Game?”, which is best used with 5th and 6th grade. It could maybe be used with 4th, but not as many methods of transport would be advisable. Unfortunately, I lost the saved pictures I had when I had to reboot my computer. The methods of transport I used were; car, bicycle, bus, airplane, boat, train, helicopter and rocket.
This game seemed to work well with all my classes.
