Parts of the Body

Danny Villeneuve

GRADE LEVEL: ES 1-6
SKILLS: Listening
TIME: 45 minutes
MATERIALS: Large pieces of paper, markers

OBJECTIVES:

  • To learn/practice body parts in an active way

PROCEDURE:

1. After greetings, point to your head, saying ‘head’. Get students to repeat twice. Repeat this with neck, arm, hand, finger, etc, adjusting based on age of students. After you have gone head-to-toe 2 times, have the students break into groups and draw a body. Walk around and try to review with each group as they draw.

2. After students are finished (until now should only take about 15-20 minutes), move into the gym and hang each picture up on a far wall. Have each team line up behind a line, and explain that when you yell a part, one person has to run down and touch that part on their picture. Stand near the drawings and call out to make sure they touch the right part.

3. Repeat 1-2 times depending on the class size, but make sure everyone goes. If need be, leave time to return to the classroom/have your goodbye greetings.
