Days of the Week
Roz Currie
| GRADE LEVEL: | JHS 1 (NH1 p 48) (good warm up for all years) |
| SKILLS: | Listening |
| TIME: | 10 minutes |
| MATERIALS: | Worksheet and Happy Days soundtrack (I found the MP3 online) |
| OBJECTIVES: | To practice listening after the days of the week have been learnt |
PROCEDURE:
1. Give out the sheets.
2. Play the music. Dance around but not so much they get distracted.
3. We played the music twice for them to fill in the words, and then three times more with everyone in the class dancing and singing.
NOTES:
I hate the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday song and I loved Happy Days when I was a kid, what can I say?
The singing is quite hard to understand so it really makes them concentrate, particularly on the difference between, “Tuesday” and, “Thursday”.
In fact we used this as a warm-up for both 2nd and 3rd years too and it’s usually the song chosen when they have to sing as song as penance for forgetting their textbook, as the whole class will join in with air guitars.
