Mr./Ms ALT, Come here please!
Abbiola Ballah
| GRADE LEVEL: | JHS 1st years |
| SKILLS: | Speaking, Reading |
| TIME: | 20 – 30 minutes (varies) |
| MATERIALS: | Worksheet |
| OBJECTIVES: | To increase students speaking ability and encourage them to interact with the ALT |
PROCEDURE:
1. Students form their lunch groups and each group is given a worksheet.
2. Make students read the phrases in the different boxes aloud and ask the JTE if they need anything explained.
3. Students have to form questions for the ALT to answer, which would correspond to one of the answers in their boxes.
4. Students get the ALTs attention by saying, “Mr./Miss ALT, come here, please!”
5. When the ALT answers, they can cross out that answer box. Groups can only ask the ALT one question at a time.
6. Students can ask the JTE for help in forming questions for the ALT.
7. The first group to get all their answer boxes crossed out wins.
NOTES:
When I played this game, the students became really into it and soon were all screaming for me to come to them. Try not to let them ask you more than one question at a time and also make sure they use the entire phrase to call you to them. Of course, the worksheet can be adapted to suit the ALT.
