| GRADE LEVEL: | ES 3rd grade+ |
| SKILLS: | Speaking, listening |
| TIME: | 20+ minutes |
| MATERIALS: | Worksheets |
OBJECTIVES:
1. To make students string multiple words together
2. To make student practice adding –s to plural words
PROCEDURE:
1. Start by giving the worksheet to the students and directing them to draw the four ships on the grid (where ever they like). The ALT should do the same.
2. There are two versions for game play: (1) students play one-on-one; (2) all the students versus the ALT.
3. One player will start by attacking his opponent. He designated he space by combining the number from the top plus an animal from the side and adds “-s”. For example, the upper right hand corner is “nine cows”.
4. The defender marks an “O” for a miss or “X” for a hit. It is then the defender’s turn to attack. Play goes back and forth until all the ships are sunk or time runs out.
NOTES:
- The games works best when the students already know the vocabulary and are just practicing putting word together.
- For a brief game, the ships sink after a single hit.
